Pins I’ve Made: Shrug

So thanks to a lovely website called Pintrest I have spent hours and hours looking at a variety of refashions. I love this idea. I am a person who hates to throw things out. Yesterday I finally took the time and cleaned out my closet and I found clothes in there that I wore in high school 10 years ago!! I went through and tried them on and most of the shirts still fit but they are really short. Styles have changed over the years and so has my belly, that is NOT something that I would care to show off to the world.

So rather than boxing up all the stuff and giving it away I decided to look around to see what I could do with them. Normally I wouldn’t hesitate to give them to the Salvation Army or anything but right now we are on a super strict budget and I don’t have the money to get any new clothes. I saw this and though “hey I could do that!”

It is super cute and if you used a long sleeved t-shirt it would be something you could wear in the winter over your summer shirts.  So I dug around in all the stuff that I had pulled out of my closet and found a black shirt that was too short.  So I cut it up and sewed it together.  I already had some ribbon in my crafting stash so I threaded it through.  This is what I got:

I love how it turned out! It is nice and warm and since it doesn’t do up under the bust it is easy for nursing (all my clothes need to be functional at the moment).  Thank you Pinterest for your wonderful ideas!!

Knit, Knit, Knit, Purl, Purl, Purl

Well actually there is no purling involved in the pattern I am using at the moment.  I have been working quite hard at getting my christmas presents done so that I am not up super late Christmas Eve!  This year we decided to do more of a handmade christmas for our extended family since there is quite a lot of them!  I have been working hard at finishing a scarf for both my husband’s sister and his brother’s fiancée.  I also have already finished a hat and hopefully will have enough time to makes some mitts to match everything.  But for now I am just going to focus on one thing at a time.
