{Sunday’s heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}
Today I am linking up with Taryn at Wooly Moss Roots
This week was a wonderful week, I have so much to be thankful for! I am grateful for:
  • An opportunity to attend a marriage conference. Me and the husband have been married for 4.5 years and we by no means have everything figured out, it is always wonderful to learn ways to better communicate with each other and take time to spend with each other.  It also doesn’t hurt that we were mostly kid free. The toddler spent the night at her grandparent and had a marvellous time!
  • Parents/In-laws who live close by and are willing to watch our toddler whenever we need them!
  • A husband who supports us and will jump on board crazy ideas with me. We have taken the plunge and the cable will be cancelled on March 11 and I am looking forward to it.  We don’t watch much tv, but once the toddler goes to bed it seems to be always on, so we are cutting it and I couldn’t be happier.
  • Bright sunny days which make my heart sing. We went for a number of walks this week to enjoy the nice sunshine.  It really hasn’t felt like winter yet (which I don’t mind at all), and so we have been enjoying the clear side walks and not having to shovel the driveway 3 times a day!
  • A wonderful library with great books and even better children’s story time.  This has to be one of the highlights of my toddler’s week. She loves the books they read and the fabulous crafts the teacher comes up with. She always spends days talking about it and has to show her craft to everyone.
  • A wonderful church group of other moms who share many of the same values. I don’t consider myself that “crunchy” but everyone around me does, it is always fun to meet other moms who do the same things as you (co-sleep, babywear, homebirth etc).
  • Special envelopes arriving in the mail with beautiful presents! (More on that to come)
  • Having family visit for the day. My grandma (mom’s mom), Nana and Poppa (dad’s parents) and my parents were able to come to church with us today and spend the whole afternoon together. It is wonderful to have so many generations together around the table for a meal. I love hearing everyone’s different perspectives on life (especially one’s who have been around for 87 years).

What are you thankful for this week?

Lately I have been craving something I haven’t had since I was pregnant (and no I’m not pregnant at the moment). This is a delicious iced tea of red raspberry leaf, stinging nettle and lemon.  It is so refreshing and has such a wonderful taste, plus all the benefits of the herbs.  I drank at least a litre of this every day the last trimester of Baby J’s pregnancy.  I made it a bit stronger then but it was great especially in the heat of the summer.  I greatly attribute my quick and easy labour to this.  There was a while after she was born that I couldn’t even stand to look at the tea, but now it would seem as though enough time has past.  I am really enjoying this delightful drink.

This week was valentine’s day and my dear sweet husband got me this knitting magazine.  I have spent hours pouring overing reading the different articles and dreaming about having enough time to actually make a few things out it.  My husband got this for me because I had spent days telling him that I didn’t want him to buy me flowers.  I like flowers but I have a nasty habit of killing them, I also prefer seasonal flowers like the ones that grow pretty wildly in my back yard.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We had a wonderful day today. The toddler woke up this morning and came running in to our bedroom to yell “Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Valentine’s Day Mommy.”  She feels the need to string all the holiday’s together, it will be quite a mouthful by Thanksgiving.  We spent the morning at story time at the library.  The toddler had made up special valentine’s for all of her friends and she LOVED giving them out to everyone.

My wonderful husband makes a point of showing the women in his life that he loves them very much. He went and got each of us ladies (me and the two kids) something special, hence the boxes of chocolate.  I love chocolate and so does the toddler but I am portioning out the chocolate so it lasts a really long time!  He also got each of the girls a special little treat, the toddler got some Duplo (large Lego) and the baby got a crinkly story book.  I thin the toddler loves the storybook most of all. She loves to “read” it too the baby, it is so cute.  I hope you all had a lovely valentine’s day.

Photo a Day: Feb 13 Blue

The past few days we have had the most beautiful blue sky.  We have been going for long walks and enjoying the sunshine.  It really doesn’t feel like February, it feels like spring! I love spring.  The toddler has really been enjoying our times outside. She asks everyday if we can go for a walk.  The only problem is she wants to use the stroller and she calls it *her* stroller. I am not allowed to put the baby in it. She wants to be the one in it.  So I have put the stroller away and we just use one of our multitude of baby carriers for our walk. I like that I can use almost a different carrier every day! I love babywearing, and she loves it too.  The added bonus is the toddler loves that I can walk freely with her and hold her hand and she doesn’t miss the stroller!
